Open Day 2008.

Tomato Tasting 2010: Over 60 people enjoyed an afternoon at Great Close Field. There were 25 varieties of tomato to taste, along with good English cheeses, homemade pickles made with their produce, and bread from Ashwell. This was followed by tea and cakes made with organic ingredients where possible. Tomato varieties included Tommy Toe, King George, Yellow Perfection, White Beauty, Black Russian, Maltese Plum, as well as more usual Gardeners’ Delight and Moneymaker.

The Grand Opening of the garden and facilities at Great Close Field took place during an  open afternoon on :Sunday, July 18 2010 from 2.00pm - 5.00pm.

Sir Graham Wynne, recently retired Chief Executive of the RSPB, officially opened the garden at Great Close Field.  A good number of people took the opportunity to relax  to  music from the Adhoc Jazz Band and look around the garden. The refreshment tent was popular with delicious homemade cakes on sale.
